Introduction

Welcome to the November 2016 issue of the Clarity Assure eBulletin. It contains the latest news and advice relating to the Quality Improvement Service for the North East.

Updates to Focus Areas

The Paediatric Sepsis focus area is now live, applicable to October 2016 discharges but awaiting confirmation of ICD10 codes to enable data to be allocated to the population for this focus area.

Demo System

Whilst the data within the Demo system is removed regularly, we would like to remind those using Demo Assure system that they should not be entering patient/hospital IDs into the system. This would also be applicable to instances where arrangements have been made with Clarity to use this as part of a user acceptance test process.  

Serious Infection Project Collaborative

The latest collaborative took place at the Village Hotel Newcastle on 15th November 2016. The meeting was a big success with representation from all of the acute hospital trusts in the North East. Presentations included: 

• Implementing hospital care bundles for patients with sepsis or community acquired pneumonia
• Regional sepsis tool
• South Tees hospitals have been able to identify problem areas in pneumonia from data and use this to improve their procedures and recording practices
• Local, regional and national updates
• Clarity developments - Mortality Review and Paediatric Sepsis
